MG ZR 105 2004

Owner: Tom Cole

The MG brand is one that I never really expected to be so involved with yet when I had a ride in my first MGF at 14yrs old in 2016 I was hooked.

The first things that I did was paint the faded plastic foglight surrounds and replace the faded front and rear badges which already made the car look 5 years newer!

My dad and I have since had quite a few MGs and really come to love the brand. When it came to buying my first car it was obvious that I’d be looking for an MG however no matter where I looked the insurance price was ridiculous due to my area so I was forced into a boring car.

After my first trip to the NEC classic car show in November I’d decided that I’d been without an MG for too long and I needed another so I started looking for a ZR 105 I had been looking at a few MK1/MK2 models but when this low mileage Monogram Celestial blue ZR105 came up for sale very local to me I knew I couldn’t say no.

Next came the modifications which include custom LED headlights, wrapped Wing mirrors and interior trims, front splitter, a carbon enclosed intake and a KMAPs Remap which is by far the best thing I’ve done to the car.

Of the 5 MGs we’ve owned through the years this one retained the most original touches like the original manual booklet and MG Rover service sticker still on the windshield.

The area of biggest improvement is the interior where I’ve added an android headunit, LED floorlights, MK6 Fiesta air vents and most importantly a rare set of blue alcantara seats to go with the Monogram colour.

The car is nowhere near finished and next on the list is to finally properly sort the arches and bodywork marks but as its my daily driver I’ve not been able to take it off the road to get the big restoration jobs done yet. But I can’t wait to improve the car even more and take it to many more shows
