MG ZT-T 260 2006

Owner: James Crow

For years I have been into saving and acquiring ZED cars of all models. After owning a few ZT 260s I always fancied one as a daily car. In March of 2023 this car appeared for sale on the 260s club. Even better, it was an estate of which less than 100 were made. This one benefits from being LPG which makes the running costs significantly lower than the standard petrol cars. The car was converted around 2008 by its first owner.

In order to collect the car we had to travel from our home in Wakefield down to London and across to Leigh on Sea. A trip that was well worth it for such a rare enjoyable car. A total of 480 miles were covered in order to bring it home.

The ZT V8’s are a rare sight being that only 883 were produced in total including 75’s. The cars are factory fitted with a 4.6 V8 imported from the states by MG/Rover purchased directly from Ford. Producing 260ps they’re not a racing car but an excellent all rounder. A tank of LPG costs around £40 to fill. Which give circa 200 mile around town and a few more on a motorway run.

Throughout the past couple of months the car has had quite a lot of work carried out including: a rebuilt gearbox and clutch, new replacement back boxes and general upkeep of an older car.

I intend to keep this as my daily as it’s the ultimate car for me and it is best of both worlds. In the near future I will be aiming to paint the front and rear bumpers due to age related marks to make it perfect along with relocating the LPG filler to the bumper.
