President MGCC Anglia Centre

President MGCC Anglia Centre

The Anglia Centre Committee are very pleased to announce that on the 12th of March at the MGCC Council Meeting, Roger Latham was voted in unanimously as President of the Anglia Centre following his nomination.

Roger was a founder member of the Anglia Centre and spent many years as  Secretary of the centre and then a five year term as Chairman. Roger has, and continues to work tirelessly, to make the Anglia Centre one of the most successful centres in the car club.

In the past Roger has written a chapter about the Anglia Centre for the book  ‘The first 70 Years of MG’ and continues to organise the very popular Anglia Centre Picnic each year.

Please remember that this year the picnic will be held on Sunday 26th of June visiting Audley End House; you will find a booking form in this month’s issue of safety fast or download it HERE.

This photo was taken at last year’s picnic, just to entice you along…

AutoTest this weekend Cancelled!!

This Sundays Autotest (22nd of May), event did not receive the minimum number of entrants, also weather forecast for both Saturday night & Sunday predicted heavy rain.

Spring Show at Duxford

This was a major event for car clubs not least the MGCC represented by the Anglia Centre. With a prime location on the grass immediately in front of the American Pavilion, bordering the airfield plus glorious spring weather all was set. The turnout of MGs did not disappoint with some 36 cars ranging from pre-war models and covering most post war ones through to the latest MG3.
Although not a flying day there was still plenty of aerial activity with a number of Moths coming and going, an aerobatic display from a Mustang plus many pleasure flights from a DH Rapide and a 2 seater Spitfire. Plenty to entertain plus, of course, all the permanent display pavilions with their myriad contents to absorb and entertain.
A very enjoyable day indeed. Roll on next year!
Many thanks to Terry Starkey of the Burblers Natter for organising the event for us.

AMSC Autosolo/Autotest/PCA June 5th

The second round of this year’s AMSC Autosolo, Autotest and PCA series which includes the Malcolm Cleverley MX5 Award will be held at MOD Wethersfield on June 5th.
Regs are available on the website www.amsc.org.uk.
We welcome entries from non-AMSC club members for any of the events and we are very keen to encourage those who haven’t tried this type of motor sport before. In fact we get several newcomers and junior drivers each time we have a Solo which is why we have introduced a PCA class for this year.
Please promote this invitation among your club members if you think they may be interested.
If you have any questions please get back to me via email tony.burchnall@gmail.com
