MG100 in the South East

The event of the year is almost upon us, MG100 SE Celebration over the weekend of May 18-19. This is a weekend event with the Saturday Road Runs, Saturday evening MG meeting and Buffet Dinner at The Fairmile, Cobham, followed by the SE Celebration Gathering at Brooklands on Sunday.

The Saturday Road Runs still have plenty of entry places, with five starts distributed across the South East counties. The longest runs are just under 70miles and pass through some picturesque countryside as well as some lovely places to visit on the way. Only £15 per car to enter, including Rally Plate and coffees at the start. The MG Cavalcade with ‘Cecil’ starts it journey through the SE on Friday 17th, with a handover at MG Dealer Ancaster of Dartford followed by an evening Natter meeting at King & Queen pub, East Malling, ME19 6DD. ‘Cecil’ continues on the Saturday Run Route from Offham, Kent for handover on the Sunday at Brooklands.

The runs finish at The Fairmile Cobham mid-Saturday afternoon and this is venue is becoming a large MG event, with at this stage, over 200 cars expected so far and numbers expected to rise. The buffet dinner is now sold out, but the pub will resume their restaurant service from 7.00pm. There will be jazz band and magician entertainment followed by a short MG100 presentation by MG Car Club President John Day after the buffet dinner. The Cobham Premier Inn next to The Fairmile may still have one or two accessible rooms available, otherwise a list of local hotels and B&Bs is available.

And then the finale on the Sunday, the SE Celebration at Brooklands Museum. Some of the highlights include:

  • A display of over 70 Competition Cars with many having raced at Brooklands.
  • MG Dealer with Cyberster on display amongst other MG models.
  • Pride of Ownership – free to enter.
  • Pull-an-MG Midget. Competition for teams of four to pull the MG over 100 feet
  • Short talks from Guest Speakers in the Brooklands Napier Room, including Jonathan Suckling, Anthony Reid and John Mayhead.
  • MG Decades Timeline and Anniversary Cars Display.
  • Music entertainment through the day.
  • Test Hill Runs.
  • Free commemorative Tote Bag.
  • Numerous MGCC Centre/Register and MGOC club displays.
  • And more.
