Old Number One at MG90

10th June 2014

CK_ONO

WE are very excited to announce that Old Number One will be joining us at Silverstone as we celebrate 90 years of MG motoring!

Old Number One took its name not because it was the first MG to be built, not by a long way, but because it was MG’s first purpose built competition car.

Cecil Kimber, widely considered by many as the founder and inspiration behind MG, knew that success in competitions would enhance the sales of his sports cars.

Over a period of 12 months Old Number One was built using standard and non-standard Morris components. It was finished just in time for the 1925 London to Lands End trial in which Kimber drove the car to victory.

Old Number will be taking pride of place in the heart of the MG Car Club marquee, alongside all 16 of our Registers and a selection of our Centres.
