MGLive! 2024 Statement

25th January 2024

The MG Car Club Council, formed of representatives of all Centres, Registers and Branches, reluctantly, but generally, took the decision that the Club shall cease planning and arranging race meetings because of the increasingly serious financial risks involved. A vote was cast and it was agreed on at the Council meeting held in October 2023. With careful consideration, and on the basis of a suggested alternative of holding the annual MGLive! with only the non-race activities inside the Silverstone circuit, it has been determined that such an event will not be viable for the Club because of the continued rising cost of all services and hire charges for the weekend. That, combined with a number of key volunteers retiring from their key roles, the challenges of recruiting new volunteers, as well as the dwindling attendance numbers to many motorsport events, has regrettably meant there will be no MGLive! 2024 at Silverstone. The viability of a 2024 event has taken into account that half of the ticket sales for MG & Triumph 100 in 2023 were to Triumph club members.

We deeply regret having to make this decision and appreciate your understanding. We will have lots of other events for you to attend during 2024, such as the South East Centenary event at Brooklands Museum on May 18-19, the Inter-Club international event at Malvern on June 28-30 and the Post Abingdon Weekender on August 3-4. Do keep an eye on the website and within Safety Fast! for details of these and many other events. We value your support, and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to future MG Car Club events.
