SUPPORTING  charities has always been an important part of the MG Car Club. For two years the MGCC has been proudly working alongside Macmillan Cancer Support helping to raise awareness of the fantastic work they carry out.

Sadly in March this year MGCC member Jackie Million passed away after losing her battle with colon cancer. Her husband Bill has very kindly donated Jackie’s 2002 MG TF 120 Stepseed to the Car Club. The decision has been made to sell the car with all proceeds going to Macmillan, a charity very close to Bill’s heart.

Bill and Jackie Million first met on a blind date in December 1966 and married the following year in February. The couple purchased their first MG, a 1953 TD, in 1975. At the same time they joined the MG Car Club. In December 1976 Clarissa Jane Million was born, the only child of Jackie and Bill.

From a young age Clarissa was involved with the MGs, often going on camping holidays in the TD with friends Bill had made at his local Natter near Sandwich. Over the years the Millions owned a variety of MGs. The TD made way for a 1947 TC, but they found they missed the driving experience of the TD so purchased a White 1953 TD to replace the TC.

Later this was replaced with a more modern 1967 MGB Roadster. The MGB was to be the car that Clarissa had her first driving experience in at 16 during an MG event held in a field. As you can see from the accompanying photos MGs formed an integral part of their lives, and they had a good group of friends at the local Natter.

This all fell apart in 2000 as tragically Clarissa passed away as a result of lupus and bone cancer. Understandably Bill and Jackie’s interest in MGs waned for a while until 2002 when the decision was made to purchase another for Jackie’s 60th birthday present.

Jackie decided on an MG TF 120 Stepspeed, and Jackie and Bill started to get more involved with the MG scene again, attending various shows including the Peter Best 25th Anniversary event in 2010.Sadly in March 2013 Jackie succumbed to colon cancer that she had been battling.

In his own words Bill has had great times with MGs over the years, but now feels it’s an end of an era and has taken the decision to gift the TF to the Club to sell, with all proceeds going to Macmillan, a charity very close to his heart.

The MG Car Club is welcoming sealed bids over a reserve price of £2,000 for the MG TF. It will be on display at various shows including MGLive! on June 15–16 for those wishing to see it.
