Important information on European events.
Hello European MG enthusiasts. After a recent online meeting between European clubs and the European Manager and myself it was agreed that the following should be distributed as widely as possible:
Can I draw your attention to the following: we have a familiar problem within the MG community in Europe – someone for commercial or other reasons organising an event and giving the impression that the event is somehow sanctioned by one of our affiliated clubs. As with Mr Bianco’s tours in the Alps and the so-called independent V8 group in Switzerland, the Italian tour is NOT sanctioned by our Italian affiliate. The Italian club’s tours were previously based around Gabicce when Fabio Filippello their President was alive. As a mark of respect to his memory MGCC Italia is next year using a different venue for their flagship event and is based around Sorrento. Information on the Sorrento event follows after the statement from MGCC Italia contact Mr Fusaroli. Details of the event can be found in English on the MGCC Italia website.

“We learned from unofficial sources that a private company is going to organize an international MG rally in Gabicce (Italy) in May 2020, dedicated to the memory of our last President, Mr. Fabio Filippello. We believe it is important to clearly point out and inform all members of all European MG Car Clubs, that MG Car Club Italy was not consulted on this event. Neither do we intend to be involved with the organization of such an event, which in our opinion does not correspond with the spirit and other objectives of our Club. The MG Car Club Italy does not agree with the choice to support the name of the event, using the name of our former President. However on this point we cannot oppose the decision of the family members, who granted this right to the organizing commercial company.
As MG Car Club Italy we would prefer, in memory of what was agreed with Fabio at the time he died, not to take part in a meeting and in a place, that was used by Fabio. To honour his memory, we have confirmed our engagement to welcome all members of European MG Car Clubs in Italy, organizing a prestigious meeting of equal level and quality, in an even more interesting and pleasant Italian town.
This event is the MG by the Sea event which will be held from 30th May until 7th June 2020.
We would like to ask you to respect this in memory of our Fabio and appreciate only promoting our own MG by the Sea event.

MG BY THE SEA 2020

Dearfriends,
For over 20 years our beloved Fabio with his great personality and charisma has led to being MG by the Sea, an important event for our club.
With the death of Fabio MG Car Club of Italy has decided to keep this event by taking it on directly and not using the Gabicce hoteliers association.
The event will remain in the club’s tradition, renewing the formula and having an itinerary in a beautiful part of Italy by the sea. We will have the chance to see and visit new wonderful jewels of beautiful Italy.
Just to start the next MG by the Sea you need to arrive in a most renowned part of the south.
We will stay in Sorrento for four days and visit places like Pomepei, Naples, the Amalfi coast, the Sorrento coast and a boat trip to the legendary Capri.
Another four nights we will spend in Paestum, we will see the archaeological park, Castellabate where the famous film was shot welcome to the south, and many other characteristic and spectacular places … certainly the sea will not fail!
Being in a very popular tourist area, the hotels have given limited availability, so it will unfortunately only be possible to accept the first 70 crews who will enroll.
