Not Quite St Georges Day Run

April 26

£25

Starting once again by kind permission at Miele Experience Centre in Abingdon. Gather for an informal chat where tea, coffee and homemade cakes can be purchased with all monies going to their charity.

After receiving the route book and rally plaque, entrants can proceed at their own pace and take a meandering route across West Oxfordshire into neighbouring Gloucestershire to the popular destination of The Jet Age Museum, Staverton, Gloucester. Here you can learn about Gloucestershire’s Aviation History. View the Gloster Meteor and Javelin as well as the famous Gloster E28/39 aircraft, developed locally by the Gloster Aircraft Company and recorded the first flight of Frank Whittle’s Jet engine in 1941.

There are open cockpit visits, but the Trident airliner and Vulcan bomber cockpits are very popular, and a free timed ticketing system is in operation. Due to their historic nature, our cockpits have no disabled access and entering the Vulcan bomber is via a steep ladder, flat shoes being essential. Access to the Gnat, Hunter and the Trident cockpits is via staircases.
