MG Car Club Travel Club Debuts in Durham

30th June 2026

We’re delighted to be launching the MG Car Club Travel Club with a national event in the North East, where we are intending for over 150 MGs to join us at Beamish Living Museum of the North, and the 4* Radisson Hotel in Durham, from September 3-5 2027.

We’ve teamed up with Club partners Scenic Car Tours, where we have arranged exclusive MG Car Club member-only items, such as special infield parking at Beamish, as well as the chance to take photos on the famous streets of the Living Museum, something that not many get the privilege of doing.

At the heart of the weekend lies Saturday’s entry to the Beamish Museum, a venue that perfectly mirrors the timeless charm of the MG marque. With exclusive parking limited to just 250 cars within the event field, participants are guaranteed pride of place.

What’s more, the day at Beamish is combined with the Horticultural Show, where Scenic Car Tours have negotiated special permission with Beamish for an MG Car Display within the show itself, something no other cars will be able to do over this weekend. With brass band entertainment, food stalls and beautiful flowers on display, all in addition to an already brilliant venue in Beamish, it promises to be a brilliant day in your MG!

Our weekend itinerary has been carefully curated with a blend of heritage, driving pleasure, social elegance, and effortless organisation, all set against the evocative backdrop of County Durham.

We are offering flexibility so that those who want to come along for the full weekend can do, but others who just want to join for the day can do also. Everyone booking must book the Saturday at Beamish to be able to book any of the other optional extras, and only those booking a hotel package or living locally (within 30 miles) will be eligible for priority booking, with remaining limited spaces for those wishing to book Saturday only, available on a limited basis from Monday July 13 2026.

From the moment you arrive on Friday afternoon, the tone is set. With Scenic Car Tours personnel onsite throughout the weekend, every detail is managed. This is not simply an event; it’s a seamless escape for MG enthusiasts who want to focus on what matters – driving, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments – without the usual logistical headaches.

For those opting for the full experience, accommodation at the elegant Radisson Blu Hotel Durham provides the perfect base, with reserved parking only for those who book via the official MG Car Club Travel Club channels, i.e. Scenic Car Tours. Those who do not book via Scenic Car Tours will not get a parking space reserved as spaces in this city centre hotel are very limited, and booking via the Travel Club in Scenic Car Tours also offers free-of-charge parking, whereas it is otherwise payable at this property.

The weekend’s social programme is equally compelling. Friday evening’s informal buffet welcome meal sets a relaxed tone, allowing members to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones.

Then comes Saturday evening’s gala dinner; with red-carpet arrival and live entertainment, this is a celebration worthy of the MG legacy. Hosted in a private suite with space for over 200 guests, the evening combines classic banqueting style with a lively, celebratory atmosphere.

Every car receives a rally plaque keepsake, while full ABTOT protection with Scenic Car Tours adds an extra layer of reassurance.

Sunday’s optional scenic drive provides a fitting finale. Guided through picturesque routes curated by the local Tyne Tees Centre, the journey leads to the stunning Bowes Museum. Here, exclusive MG Car Club display parking offers yet another photographic opportunity, while entry and guided tours invite participants to explore one of the region’s cultural gems.

Whether you prefer the full hotel package or simply wish to attend Saturday’s showcase, there are options to suit different levels of involvement, but, as earlier mentioned, priority booking will be given to those living within 30 miles and/or booking a hotel package.

It’s also worth noting the added value for MG Car Club members, with a £50 per car discount available on hotel packages (not applicable to entry only).

Ultimately, what sets this weekend apart is its balance. It is structured yet relaxed, exclusive yet welcoming, refined yet unpretentious.
