Piccadilly induction for BTCC pair

27th February 2017

Last week, the MG RCiB Racing BTCC season really got underway with our annual pre-season driver meeting. Always an important event in our calendar, we this year chose to hold the session at our fantastic central London showroom in Piccadilly.

It was the first chance for our exciting new driver pairing of Árón Taylor-Smith and Daniel Lloyd to immerse themselves in the MG brand as we covered everything from a more detailed understanding of the current product line-up of MG3 and MG GS, the launch plans for our forthcoming compact SUV and, of course, our ninety plus years of rich history.

Both Árón and Daniel were enthused by the experience and came up with sorts of great ideas that we are all looking forward to bringing to life as they embark on their inaugural year as MG brand ambassadors – a first manufacturer representative drive for both men.

It is clear that the hard-working pair are as dedicated to making a success of their MG experience away from the racing track as they are to starring on it. Triple Eight, who race engineer the MG6 – one of the most successful chassis in NGTC British Touring Car history – feel very confident that their close-season developments will deliver to pair a front-running car.

Árón is in confident mood stating that he will be going all out for a genuine crack at the 2017 drivers title and believing that he will enter the final round of the season at Brands Hatch in with a real chance of clinching the crown. For his part, approaching his first full season in the championship, Daniel is looking to first emulate then surpass the achievements of former MG driver Ash Sutton in scoring his first pole position, first podium finish and first race win in 2017 and building from there.

It’s shaping up to be another exciting season and you can be a part of the first action at Donington Park on Thursday 16 March when the gates open to spectators after the Media unveilings and fans will have the first chance to see Árón and Daniel on track wearing their new MG colours.
