MG MOTOR is pleased to announce a year-long pop-up dealership residency at one of the UK’s most successful shopping centres, Westfield Merry Hill.

Following on from a successful two month, pre Christmas run, MG is delighted to return to the midlands-based shopping centre with a year-long presence throughout 2014, the historic marque’s 90th anniversary year.

The display will continue to feature the new MG3 and the award winning MG6; in both GT fastback and Magnette sports saloon variants. The four car display will allow prospective customers to see the product line in the flesh and to talk to fully trained MG Sales Executives from the factory.

The centrally located stand will provide the perfect dropping off point for any automotive enthusiasts that may need a quick break from the huge range of shopping opportunities the centre provides.

Westfield Merry Hill is one of the UK’s most successful shopping centres and the focal point of a 220–acre, mixed-use complex in the heart of the West Midlands. The 155,000 sqm shopping centre houses over 290 stores and welcomes an estimated 23 million customers a year.

MG Head of Sales; Sam Burton said: “The partnership with Westfield Merry Hill provides a fantastic opportunity for two iconic Midlands Brands to continue to work together following the great success we enjoyed at the centre at the end of 2013.”

Westfield Director of Operations; Bill Giouroukos said: ‘Westfield is delighted that such an Iconic UK brand has chosen to partner with Westfield at our Merry Hill centre to launch a new and dynamic sales platform for their exciting range of cars. Westfield has changed the concept of the pop up – where once they were short term take overs of unused spaces, Westfield is now hosting high profile brands such as MG in state of the art units for whole seasons or even longer.’

The announcement comes just days after official figures showed a dramatic increase in sales for the Longbridge-based manufacturer since the launch of the MG3 in the UK. MG3 Customer deliveries started in November 2013, a month in which sales showed a 257% increase in from the previous November. MG Parent company, SAIC Motor, achieved record global sales of over 5.1 million units, an increase of 13.71% on 2012 sales.

SAIC Motor is the first Chinese automotive manufacturer to exceed five million units in a year; 230,000 units of this extraordinary end of year figure can be attributed to sales of the MG and Roewe marques worldwide.
