MG Cyberster photo shoot with club member’s MGB

11th May 2023

A special preview event showcasing the pre-production design model of MG’s exciting new sports car was held at the SAIC design studios in Marylebone, London. A photo shoot was also held in Oxfordshire to capture the launch photos for the MG Cyberster, and the MG Car Club were present with an MGB to show our support.

The first all-new sports car by MG since the launch of the MGF in the 1990s promises the opening of a new chapter for MG as the company returns to its sporting roots with a car that is being touted at the first affordable EV roadster.

The MG Cyberster is expected to go on sale in Summer 2024 and will go head to head with its nearest rival, the BMW Z4 at a similar price point of £55,000.

Advanced design director Carl Gotham and his Marylebone team – who played a key role in creating the Cyberster – revealed the model for the first time. Removing the covers, Carl commented: “It is a special moment for all of us who have played a part in designing this unique car. The Cyberster will offer MG customers a striking, all-electric roadster which will be as exciting as MG sports cars of the past.

To celebrate the upcoming arrival of the Cyberster, MG also released a new film focusing on the design story. Presented by Carl Gotham, it reveals how his team have created a sports car that is set to be the first all-electric roadster on the market. See the video below.

The Cyberster’s stand-out styling – envisioned by Gotham and his design colleagues at MG’s design studio in Marylebone, London clearly draws inspiration from MG’s heritage, with signature design highlights including a distinctive long bonnet, low nose and curvaceous surfaces found on the MGB. In fact, an MGB was used as part of one the company’s launch photo shoots, with a car supplied by a member of the MG Car Club.

The Cyberster however will also introduce some striking new and modern features, including scissor doors and a Kammback rear design.

The two-seater Cyberster marks a keenly anticipated return to sports car production by the MG marque, with the car bringing the story right up to date with a high performance all-electric powertrain and modern cabin featuring an array of advanced driver technology.

Commenting on the launch, Mike Stafford, Club Manager said,

The Cyberster marks a monumental moment in MG history and it was great to represent the MG Car Club at the photoshoot to show our support for the new model. We are looking forward to enhancing the ownership for lucky new owners of MG Cybersters when they are launched next year by welcoming them with open arms to the great activities and membership benefits we enjoy in the MG Car Club.”
