IN Febraury this year we were saddened to hear the passing of John Targett.

As well known member of the V8 Register, Victor Smith held fond memories of John: “John Targett had an unforgettable smile with an engaging personality that welcomed interesting conversation. His humour was boundless but he was no lightweight, far from it, but a very serious person with a professional approach to his work and his passion for motor racing preparation and track skills.”

The memorial service for John will be on Saturday 3rd May 2014 at St Peter’s Church, The Square, Petersfield, GU32 3HS at 12.00 noon. No flowers please, but donations to MacMillan Cancer Support – details will be available at the Church. Following the service there will be refreshments at the nearby Churcher’s College, Ramshill, GU31 4AS from 1.00– 3.00pm.

Please email if you intend to join the memorial for John so his family will have some idea of numbers likely to attend for planning their arrangements. Parking for the service – the Central (Waitrose) car park will be busy but there is alternative parking in Swan St, Festival Hall, Tesco at The Causeway or the Railway Station.

There will also be a race held in honour of John at the Car Club’s Race Meeting at Brands Hatch this Saturday.
