DRAFT 2026 Calendar

Please find above a DRAFT 2026 calendar. Paul has done another cracking job in pulling this together. Yes, there are some clashes, but all are entirely out of our hands.

> Loton Park is very early, due to change of BHC date moving to our traditional August BH weekend.

> Mallory Park could be ‘New’, depending on which course gets used by the Bentley Drivers Club. We do have some old Mallory Targets, if they ‘fit’.

> Snetterton is a week early, as the 2CV 24 Hours has changed hands (no longer BARC organised) and the new ‘owners’ can’t accommodate the 2CVs and us at the same time any more.

> Harewood’s April meeting has been dropped due to clash with Curborough. No available alternative date. The September meeting is a week later than normal.

Please remember this is only a draft version and we’ll update you regarding the TBC’s as soon as we get more information.

“Southern” Awards Presentation

Dear Competitor, After the successful get together last year, some of us Southerners thought it would be a good idea to have another mid -winter get together. “Northerners” are more than welcome!

We therefore invite you, your family and friends to attend The Water Tower, 160 Park Lane, Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire RG31 4DU at 17.00 on Sunday 25th January for a light dinner. We will also present the Awards that people couldn’t collect at the National Awards Presentation.

The timetable is as follows:

17.00 Arrival at The Water Tower

17.30 Presentation of Awards

18.00 Dinner

To keep it simple we will all pay for our own food and drinks. Please confirm your attendance to John Egan – john.egan@ntlworld.com or 07885 861762

Championship Coordinator Vacancy – Updated

As you may know, the MG Car Club Speed Championship has been looking for a new Championship coordinator. In the past, this role could not be filled by a competitor (conflict of interests, etc.). However, MSUK’s stance on the matter has changed and we can therefore open up our search to existing competitors!

The coordinator controls all aspects of the Speed Championship. Typical tasks include:

  • Applying to MSUK for the ‘Championship Permit’, having submitted our Regulations for their approval
  • Contacting and liaising with meeting organisers, to build an appropriate Championship calendar (already underway for 2026)
  • Dealing with Championship registrations and handling queries from existing and potential competitors
  • Writing the monthly half page report for ‘Safety Fast’ (I’m happy to retain this role, if required)
  • Helping the North Western Centre with the organisation of the end of season Awards Presentation

You’ll be well supported. Paul Goodman can continue to lead for a period of time, with the new coordinator shadowing him, whilst slowly handing over responsibility to the new role holder. Helen Waddington will continue to prepare and publish the Championship results, and I’ll offer admin, technical support and maintenance of the web site.

If you’d like any further information on the role, then please get in touch with Paul at paul.goodman7@ntlworld.com
