News & Events

MG Era Day - 8th April 2012

The MG Era Day at Brooklands was also held on 8th April. A combination of Easter and the poor weather made the event noticeably quieter than previous years. Despite this those who attended had an enjoyable day, with a healthy number of Zeds and other MGs in attendance. We took the opportunity to promote MG Saloon Day with a quantity of flyers handed out during the course of the day. The feedback we have received from members has been excellent, so hopefully we should have a huge turnout on the day. After the entertainment of test-hill, visitors began to drift away bringing to a close a successful day.

Donington Park - 8th April 2012

The first racing round of the 2012 season began at Donington Park on 8th April. The weather was typical of a bank holiday weekend. However the drizzly weather didn’t prevent an excellent day’s racing. Doug Cole (ZR190) from Class B and Paul Luti (LE500) from Class A both recording an overall win in the two Trophy races after the usual close-quarters racing. The most success was achieved by Paul Savage (ZR160) who won Class C in both races, putting him in the lead of the championship. The Register once again organised the lunchtime parade laps. This attracted nineteen cars including Club Chairman Bill Silcock. Despite the chilly Easter weather, some hardy members took part with their hoods down.

MG Show & Spares Day - 19th February 2012

Our year began on 19th February with the MG Show & Spares Day at Stoneleigh. This is our forth year at this popular event. It was also the first year with our own stand. With the extra space came the opportunity to have all three Zed variants on display.

The Zeds on our stand were all sprint cars from the MGCC Luffield Speed Championship, kindly loaned to us by Avalanche Motorsport. The show opened at 9am to advance ticket holders, and then to the general public at 10am. Gradually as the halls filled with people it suddenly made you aware of how busy the show can become. We were kept busy all day with questions and enquiries, it was good to see so many of you there. It was also good to catch up with familiar faces.

Our regalia was very popular with a large quantity sold during the day. We still have a number of ‘ZedTen’ T-shirts and Window Stickers in stock if you are still without one. We took the opportunity to promote MGSD; many flyers promoting this event were given out in the matter of hours. Welcome to those of you who joined the Car Club and Register that day, we hope to see you during the course of the year. A slick, military style dismantling session after the show closed at 4pm brought the day to a successful conclusion. A great way to start the 2012.

Classic Motor Show - 11th to 13th November 2011

The Classic Motor Show was held at the NEC, Birmingham over the weekend of 11-13th November.
This big finale to our 2011 season has proved very popular over the past couple of years, and this time round was no exception. In a very similar format to last year, we shared a stand with the main club. We were very fortunate to have a special Zed on display; the stunning and highly customised MG ZS 180 of Kyle Reyner.

Understandably Kyle’s ZS was very popular amongst the visitors due to its unique modifications. Besides the striking colour, these include a blend of Mk1 and Mk2 styling, a modified flip-flop boot and rear ‘suicide doors’! Many thanks to Kyle for allowing his Zed to be displayed over the three days, the car was a real hit and is a true credit to him. The stand was very busy throughout the weekend and a lot of interest was shown in the world of the modern MG.

MG Saloon Day 2012

The ZR/ZS/ZT Register is pleased to announce that it is to team up the MG ‘M’ Group (the independent club focused on the MG Metro, Maestro and Montego) in organising this year’s MG Saloon Day. The event, established by MG ‘M’ Group, has been run annually for a number of years. This year MGSD is to be held on the 8th July at the Shuttleworth Collection, near Biggleswade, Bedfordshire (just west of the A1). The Shuttleworth Collection depicts the history of flight from the early 1900s to the 1950s. There is also a vehicle section, displaying vintage and veteran cars, motorcycles and bicycles. A special rate has been negotiated for those wishing to visit the museum in addition to attending MGSD.

As in previous years, MG Saloon Day is open to all models of MG and Rover, old or new.

The show will feature:

  • Club and forum displays
  • Metro 30th Anniversary Line-up
  • Pride of Ownership
  • Register Reglia
  • Traders and Autojumble

Tickets and pricing will be announced during February. Email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
