Webpage Presentation
We are trying to make this site accessible to everybody, regardless of what browsing device is used. If you find something that needs improving to make this site more accessible, please let us know.
Standards compliance
This site is when ever possible built on valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional for structure and CSS for presentation. Both the hand written and auto generated pages within the site have been checked for validity but only this page carries the logos from W3C and the links to the validation services.
Our RSS feed is checked against version 2.0 and should be Atom compliant, it includes style formating that will probably only be followed by a dedicated reader.
A modern web browser like Firefox, Safari or Opera should enable you to get the most out of this website by presenting it as intended, but we hope that with the separation of content and presentation used on this site it should be accessible to any browsing device.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or earlier then you should ungrade now, you are welcome to continue using a 10 year old web browser that has well known rendering and security problems but we will not spend time making the site work with it.
Links
The target of many of the links on this site should be obvious from the image or text, if not we are adding title attributes to describe the target of the link in greater detail.
There are no javascript: pseudo-links. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.
However we are using some javascripted tricks on the site and you might get some funny results if scripting is off, in particular javascript is used to obfiscate email addresses to make them harder for automatic harvesters to read. It also provides the font handling for our site menu and the gallery sign posts, but these should still work if you have disabled javascript though they will not be as pretty.
