Club Race Championships/ Series

THE MG CAR CLUB is the most active single Marque race organising Club in the UK. The Race Meetings, organised by the Car Club, take place at Silverstone, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Donington, Brands Hatch and other circuits around the country.

There are seven national MG Car Club race championships catering for all MG models and one race series. For more information about them, please see below, or click on the championship in the menu to the left.

Race Series:

   – MGCC Iconic 50s

Each Championship and Series has its own Coordinator and a Driver’s Group who determine their own race schedules and technical regulations. Rounds are run mostly at MG Car Club meetings with invitation events at other Club’s meetings.

MG Car Club MG Trophy
For modern MG models, in four classes; Purpose-built 190bhp MG ZR, MGF/TF and LE500 race cars running on Dunlop (control) slicks/wets. Plus classes for road legal MG ZR and MGF/TF (160 bhp) running on MSA list 1A/B tyres. MG Car Club Peter Best Insurance Challenge
The Peter Best Insurance Challenge is the only series that caters for all MGs ranging from T-Types through to Midgets, MGBs, MGCs to MGFs. MG Car Club Lackford Engineering MG Midget & Sprite Challenge 
The Midget Challenge caters for the ever green post-war Midgets and Austin Healey Sprites racing in three classes, for full race modified cars, modified cars and road going cars. For more information, please contact Tim Storrar on 01242 224193 or  07884 165123 or timslenham@hotmail.com

MG Car Club BCV8 Championship

MG Car Club Thoroughbred Sportscar Championship
This series has a list of eligible cars that compete in engine capacity classes. Regular entries competing against the strong MGB classes include E Type Jaguars, Aston Martins, Triumph TR series and Morgans. MG Car Club Cockshoot Cup
The Cockshoot Cup Championship, run by the North Western Centre of the Club, has a competitor base and rounds centered on the North-West. MG Car Club Drayton Manor Park Metro Cup
Low cost racing is offered by the Metro Cup which caters for the road going MG Metros to the faster Metro Turbos encompassing the Rover 100 and Metro GTa. For more information, please contact Steve Carr at scarrsport@gmail.com

Equipe GTS
Equipe GTS is designed for pre 1966 cars with engines spread across five classes from under 1150cc to 2700cc. Running to Appendix K rules (FiA papers not demanded) our aim is to provide a competitive yet gentlemanly, safe and friendly race series with a high standard of driving and car preparation. The new series combines the previous Ecurie GTS – run by the MG Car Club and Equipe GTS owned by Aston Club Racing. 2015 will be a transition year where new regulations will ensure those who raced with either Ecurie GTS or Equipe GTS in 2014 will be welcome. For more information contact info@equipegts.com

MG Car Club Iconic 50s
