With this year’s racing now over you’d think that this was a slack time, but that’s not the case at all. Three of the Trophy drivers were out at Castle Combe helping to raise over £8,000.00 for the Stroke Association at Supercar Saturday on the 24th October. The Luti’s were there with the awesome Dreadnought ZT and both Doug Cole and Robin Walker were offering passenger rides in their race cars all for a very good cause, thanks for waving the Trophy flag guys.
Â
Next up was the Classic Car Show at the NEC last weekend (13-15th November) where once again the Trophy Championship was much in evidence thanks to cars on display from Chris Bray (championship winning ZR 190) and David Koskela (class D TF 160). These were on the Zed and F register stands which were opposite the main MGCC car club stand.
Â
This coming weekend, (21/22nd) we have Race Car Live at Brands Hatch http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/brands-hatch/news/article.asp?NewsID=491 where budding racers can try passenger laps at race speed to see if they’d like to join us in the future. Last year we enticed Julia Penfold to ‘have a go’ and she subsequently joined us and bought John Brown’s old championship winning ZR 160 which she has campaigned successfully all season. This year we will have Robin in his ‘new’ ZR 190 and Doug in his 190 both again giving up their spare time to encourage others to join us in the Trophy championship.
Â
The following Saturday (28th) sees us back at Horwood House nr. Milton Keynes, MK17 0PH for the annual drivers meeting and end of season Awards evening. At the drivers meeting the championship is discussed in detail and any suggested changes to the regulations are voted on. Those changes agreed upon are then left for me to incorporate into the existing championship regs and are then forwarded to the MSA for ratification before the 31st December deadline. Anyone looking to join us in 2010 is welcome to come along to the meeting which starts at 2pm prompt.
Â
Also during this period the race dates and venues for next year need to be finalised, sponsors sought and new drivers chased up to make sure we have another successful season with some new ‘faces’ and full grids in 2010.
