Jules Jots The General Managers Blog week 9 & 10 - MG Car Club General Manager Julian White pens his weekly blog.
Â
FIRSTLY I want to say hello and thank you to Richard and all in the North American Drivers club for their note which I received today. It’s good to see my audience is truly international!
Can I also  apologise for not doing the Blog last week, the work load just got the better of me!
We have all been very busy here at Kimber house with preparation and set up for our second show of the year ‘Race Retro’ which was once again held at the Stoneleigh show grounds.
For those that do not know, this is very much a show aimed at Racers and those interested in world of historic racing cars. Dave Saunders, our Director responsible for the Club’s racing program, managed to secure the loan of a very famous MGA Twin Cam Reg. No. SRX 210 which competed 3 times in the ‘Le Mans 24 hr’ winning is class in 1960.  This was proudly displayed on the MG Car Club stand.
Once again, I spent most of the weekend shaking hands and chatting to lots of  our members,  many of whom are eagerly awaiting the start of our racing programme.
Exhausting as it was, I really enjoyed the show, saw some amazing cars and at the same time I am pleased to say we managed to sign up a lot of new members over the three day period, so welcome to all of you.
We have our AGMÂ this weekend at Gaydon so I had better get on now with my speech preparation.
Before I do go though, can I just put in a plug for anyone interested in the history of (MGA SRX210). The North West Centre will shortly be publishing a new book
covering the history of MG at Le Mans including a DVD with footage of Le Mans in 1959 and 1960.
