CONGRATULATIONS to the MG Car Club's Tyne Tees Centre who staged a fantastic "Vulcan Lecture" on Wednesday 16th May. Over 250 people filled The Appleby Lecture Theatre at Durham University on Wednesday evening to see two key presentations by members of the team.
Robert Pleming, Vulcan Trust Chief Executive, opened the event with an introduction on the development of Vulcan aircraft and their role in the Cold War, before coming to the significance of XH558 herself and the obstacles involved in even considering a restoration, let alone completing one!
It really did open eyes on exactly what it took to achieve. After the interval, Martin Withers took to the stage to present a very detailed and frank account of his experiences during the Black Buck raids on the Falkland Islands. From the warm reception and feedback of attendees afterwards, the whole evening was considered as very informative and entertaining.
