Is the FWD register trully dead and buried? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
No posts here for nearly 3 years.

Can't remember seeing a FWD register update in Safety Fast in the last 2 years.

Presume FWD died some time ago?? Shame, as surely I can't be the only MGCC member with a Metro/Maestro/Montego, can I?

The FWD Register has not functioned as a register for 3 or 4 years.

Currently we looking to reform the register initially under the" umbrella" of the Zed Register to help it back on its feet.

The current numbers of taxed 1100/1300s Metros/Maestro/Montego cars is very small and the numbers on the clubs register even smaller. Check out the How many left website

It is planned to put a note in Safety Fast! for all members who have 1100/1300/MMM cars to let the club have the details to try to seek new Register members.

There should be notes in SF! this month and future months submitted by member Patrick Roberts who also runs a club for MMM cars.

It is a disappointing situation especially as it is the 50th anniversary of the launch of the MG 1100 this year and nothing is really happening. We are trying to get cars for MG Live! and MGB 50 could have special park if someone wants to display.

However with all things voluntary a Register need volunteers to run it - would you be the first?

Yes it does look a bit bleak:

MG 1100/1300: 189
MG Metro: 215
MG Maestro: 150
MG Montego: 47 (is that possible the rarest full production MG?)

However with all things voluntary a Register need volunteers to run it - would you be the first?

I'm willing to lend a hand if needed!

Hi
Thanks for the prompt reply

Yes the numbers are bleak especially when one considers the numbers made. If I remember correctly form Clausager's book on MG Saloons the MG 1100/1330 total was something like 172000. So about 1% are taxed on the road in the UK. There are small numbers in the USA and Japan too.

The Montego (34476 and turbo version 7276 produced) totalling a build of over 41000 should not be rare but with only 0.1% still taxed it is now.

Off to Yorkshire Centre for their prize giving this weekend and very busy early next week but will be back in touch about restarting the Register in due course.

Don't forget the MG Saloon Day on July 8th at the Shuttlewoth Collection. This year the ZR/ZS/ZT Register is teaming up with Patrick Roberts' MG 'M' Group to help organise this. With the 30th anniversary of the MG Metro we are hoping to have a good display of cars. Also possibly a good opportunity to meet with others and discuss the FWD Register's future.

I have two MG 1300 that I am restoring, but the trouble with the ADO16 is that it is better served by The 1100 Club than the MG clubs simply because these cars are usually overlooked by most enthusiasts and parts are not supported by the MG clubs, whereas the The 1100 Club has greater numbers on it side owing to covering the other 5 badges so can justify some of the parts remanufacturing.

I'd be interested in supporting any MG 1100/1300 activities.
