I agree with Paul that you do not need (and should not) remove all the old paint (you need good paint cover where the spokes go through the centre hub and rim, where moisture lingers)

Holts used to do an aerosol called Bright Silver and from a distance the wheels looked like chrome wires; I am unsure whether there is a modern equivalent

this is a job that is well worth doing and can improve the appearance of a car greatly

this (poor quality) photo gives some idea of Bright Silver aerosol

the wheel was pretty poor prior to painting

hope this gives you some encouragement

(downside is that you will want to wash the wheels after each drive out !!!)

PS .... searching Ebay for "bright silver paint" produces quite a few hits ..........

very nice, I like that and a good paint job

that's the great thing about MGs, no two cars are ever exactly alike and we all have our own preferences. Pop along to MG Live and see the vast variations of colour in the car parks ...........

what colour is the bodywork ?

only trouble now is that you will need to keep out of puddles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
