ACE VENUE FOR FBHVC DRIVE IT DAY ™ – 22 April 2012
The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs has announced that Drive it Day 2012 will be held on Sunday 22 April and this year the famous Ace Café on the North Circular Road, will provide a venue for enthusiasts in North London.
The Federation will be on hand at the historic venue to meet and greet members and explain its work and activities while the café will be providing its own blend of nostalgia and refreshment to patrons.
Elsewhere, clubs and local organisations are encouraged to hold gatherings on the day to provide old vehicle enthusiasts (including motorcyclists) with the excuse to get out and blow the winter cobwebs away, even if they only use their historic vehicle to go to the shop to buy a newspaper. A number of more formal events are already planned and can be accessed through the FBHVC website http://fbhvc.co.uk/drive-it-day
The original Drive it Day concept was to celebrate the Thousand Mile Trial when 64 cars set off from London on 23 April 1900 on a three week reliability trial around Britain in order to promote the motorcar as a means of reliable travel to the public. Drive it Day has been held annually since 2006 on a Sunday closest to the original date.

With the theme of the 1960s, the MG Club of France is celebrating the anniversary of the MGB in the Perigord Noir region of France. Exhibitions of MGB documents and music from the 60s will animate the weekend. Participants are invited to come dressed in period clothes. Visits to the famous prehistoric Lascaux and Les Eyzies sites, and beautiful towns and villages such as Sarlat, La Roque-Gageac and Montfort.

The Anglia Centre is pleased to announce, that we have been invited to visit Classic & Sports Cars Essex, by Jason Waller, the owner of this well respected repair and restoration Company. Although they are renowned specialists in the restoration of MG T Types, they also cater for other MG models and hold spares for the T series, A’s and B’s. As well as restoration they also specialise in full engine rebuilds and have their own in house paint, trim and body shops.
Our escorted tour of the facility will commence at 10.00 on Saturday 28th July & will last for around two hours. This will be followed by an optional lunch at a nearby pub. During the tour, Jason and his staff will be on hand to give advice and answer questions. There will be a selection of MG’s in various stages of restoration along with Cars for Sale.
