PLACE TO MEET FRIENDS AND SOCIALISE
You know what they say - other countries in the world have a climate
but Britain has weather! And whatever that weather may be, the undoubted
centre of the social scene is the 900m2 covered social area which
provides the venue to meet up with friends old and new, eat, drink
and party. Good food is available all day at reasonable prices,
backed up by a bar and a friendly atmosphere. Accepted as a great
success last year, the SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY with freshly cooked
food, live music and a welcome to all our overseas visitors was
completely sold out. We're sorry if you missed out but we have increased
the capacity for this year. There is NO INCREASE in price and we
advise you to BOOK EARLY to be sure of your place. Thanks to the
generosity of the MGCC Midland Centre - celebrating their 75th -
there will be live music and a party atmosphere on Friday evening
too.
Visitors from outside the UK will not only be welcomed on Saturday
evening but also in the new Arena, a chance to showcase some superb
MGs that we perhaps only see in the UK once a year. If you're thinking
of travelling from continental Europe - and what a wonderful opportunity
the strength of the Euro provides this year - should take a look

Over in the Club Pavillion, the Centre and Register stands provide
another great spot for those with a shared passion for every type
of MG to meet up, whilst for others, the camping area will provide
a place to continue the sociable side of the event. There is undoubtedly
a sociable aspect in browsing through the trade stands, with banter
and bargaining throughout the weekend.

CHOICE OF ACTIVITIES - GET INVOLVED
Silverstone International has always been about action and members
driving and enjoying their MGs so we will keep up this important
tradition. The Silverstone complex is huge and we will use every
bit of it, providing opportunities for you to get involved with
absolutely any type of MG. The California Cup Autotest is a real
test of driving skill and will see teams from MGCC Centres across
the UK as well as others competing for one of the finest trophies
the club has. This year, the top finishers will come to the Arena
to show just how it's done and will have a target set for them by
multiple British Autotest champion Russ Swift. Looking to the Southern
end of the circuit, the 'southern loop' plays host to a Sprint organised
by the North West Centre of the club and the Rally Stage is in operation
with rides in a full rally specification MG ZR available to the
brave of heart.
On Sunday morning, visitors will be able to book up for Circuit
Tours where they can take their own car out on the circuit for a
couple of laps conducted in safety by a club Safety Car. As the
British GP follows three weeks after us at Silverstone, taking part
in the circuit tour gives you a tremendous insight into what racers
- from F1 to our own MG racers - face at this circuit.
Some of the action is less high octane but equally intense as competitors
with the very best examples of MG cars take their chance to shine
in the Arena for the Concours and Pride of Ownership events. Generously
supported by Zymol, the prizes involved will attract some fine and
original cars, so don't miss the tension as the judges choose the
winning cars. Last but not least among the activities, and organised
by the South West Centre entirely as an antidote to all the serious
stuff, the Gymkhana pits MGs and their crews of all ages against
each other in a test of both driving skill and sense of humour.
ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL
First and foremost of course is the SUPERLATIVE RACE PROGRAMME.
This event took SI '07 into the record books as the biggest one-make
race meeting in the WORLD and the biggest race meeting in the UK
with more than 600 drivers taking part! The entertainment is non-stop,
the best grandstand seats that Silverstone has to offer are FREE
and if you only go to one race meeting this year, MAKE IT THIS ONE!
Slick organisation and superb commentary make this event a joy for
drivers and spectators alike and if you want to show your appreciation
of the drivers, come along to the Race Welcome Centre in the paddock
for the presentation after each race.
New for 2008 is the ARENA,
a true centre where you can find entertainment throughout the weekend,
showcasing the best that the club and the world of MG has to offer.
All the main components of the weekend will either take place in
or be introduced in the arena - at SI '08 we will bring the entertainment
to you! Leading control expert RUSS SWIFT will utterly amaze you
with his driving ability. There will be sessions throughout the
day so you can come backto check that what you saw first time was
actually happening! (Saturday only). 
We're all keen to see what he can do in the Brown & Gammons
reverse steer MGF, this car has a mind of its own and stubbornly
steers in the opposite direction to the driver!!!
The main MG Pavillion will feature an unprecedented display of some
20 supercharged K3 racers coming to Silverstone from around the
world thanks to the efforts of the Triple M Register of the club.
To complement the £5m static display, a selection of the K3s
will be out on the track on Saturday, giving you the chance to see,
hear and smell the definitive MG racing car, the MG K3, in action
once more.
