MG rallying enthusiasts support three major annual events the HRCR Rally Championship, the annual Regis Rally and the Prix des Alpes.

The Prix des Alpes is now established as one of the most popular European touring events re-tracing authentic routes of the Alpine and Monte Carlo Rallies. The emphasis is very much on the social side as well as some mild competition. There are no timed sections and no road timing. There are Sporting and Touring routes. The predominant sports car entry is always dominated by MG. Competition licences are not required.

10th Prix des Alpes

EVENT SCHEDULE

Sunday 2nd September
The start will be in Beaune, capital of the Burgundy region. This is a comfortable travelling time from Calais whilst taking us within striking distance of the Hautes Alpes. The Mercure Hotel at Beaune offers us suitable hotel accommodation and we were impressed with the facilities and service in 2006. Sunday will include the usual Rally School, Registration, Champagne Reception and the Welcome Dinner.

Monday 3rd September
The first day's run from Beaune takes us south-east with a relaxing cross country drive finishing with the climb of the dramatic Grand Colombier with views of Mont Blanc before arriving at attractive lakeside Aix les Bains, a popular regular Prix des Alpes night stop. We stay at the Radisson SAS Hotel (formerly the Park Casino) for two nights with a Rally Dinner on the first night and a free evening on the second night.

Tuesday 4th September
This will be a half day loop out of Aix les Bains exploring the Rhone Valley area to the west of the Lac du Bourget returning to Aix in time to relax and explore the town. The Hotel is ideally placed for a walk out to the many bars and restaurants for a free evening.

Wednesday 5th September
Today brings the first of the major climbs starting with Mount Revard out of Aix and then to the Cols de Marocaz, Cucheron, Glandon, Croix de Fer, the great Galibier and to our night stop at Briancon, Europe's highest town. We stay at the small but friendly Parc Hotel in the town centre with dinner in the lively hotel restaurant.

Thursday 6th September
This is the day of the big climbs over the Col Izoard, Col du Vars, the awesome Cime de la Bonette (the highest in Europe) and then across the Alpes Maritimes to Cannes where we stay for two nights on the harbour-side at the splendid Sofitel le Mediterranee. Free evening to explore the delights of Cannes.

Friday 7th September
Cannes loop. This will be the now traditional final half day run back into the Alpes Maritimes mountains finishing in time for a relaxing afternoon before the Gala Prizegiving Dinner overlooking the bay at Cannes.
