Race Marshalling

2008 Marshal's Availability Form

The Club maintains a database of some 500 members and friends who regularly marshal at MG Car Club race meetings.

These events take place at Silverstone, Snetterton, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Castle Combe..

The marshalling lists include those who volunteer for a variety of jobs from experienced observers and flag marshals, fire marshals, pit and paddock officials, newcomers who are learning the ropes and those who handle race phones and help in the administration offices. Junior members can serve as 'runners' (with their parents' permission!).

At the start of the season an availability form is sent to all those on the database who are asked to return this detailing their experience and the meetings that they are able to attend. To marshal in 2006 please fill in online or print off the 2006 Marshalling Availability Form, and post to the address below.

Before each meeting the volunteers are sent their free admission passes and race meeting instructions.

All enquiries for race marshalling should be addressed to:

John Watson, Chief Marshal, Yew Tree Cottage, Girsby Corner, Burgh on Bain, Market Rasen, Lincs, LN8 6LA, 07801 648646 day, 01507 313 852 eve, 01507 313813 fax

Marshalling at Club, Regional Centre and Register Events

A motor club and motor sport at all levels could not exist without the work of volunteer officials. The MG Car Club, its Centres and Registers, offer plenty of opportunity for MG enthusiasts to be involved.

The Club’s regional Centres and Registers organise a variety of events ranging from touring rallies, autotests, gymkhanas and trials and all require marshals to handle various jobs.

This is a rewarding way of getting involved with the Club and your Centre and generally you will not require any experienced or qualifications other than enthusiasm!

Centres and Registers are also always in need of people to serve on their Committees where member’s various skills and enthusiasm can be put to good use.

If you would like to help as a volunteer official then contact your local Centre or your relevant Register.
